Heritage Open Days 2025

What a marvellous weekend we had, welcoming so many visitors to the museum! As ever, it was a hands-on occasion with a close look at the crafts of corn dolly making, rag rugging and quilling. We enjoyed demonstrations from Keith at the anvil and Krys with her spinning wheel. David brought traditional toys and games along with a diorama showcasing vehicles from Marton’s Aston Garage era. The theme this year was Architecture and our exhibition included listed buildings in the village along with traditional thatched cottages.
You could say that our museum is the embodiment of a vision for the village; along with new houses in the early 1980s, the previous owner of the field included construction of the pavilion and the museum in the plan. This has become our permanent home for George Tims’ unique collection from farming and rural life.
Many thanks to all who visited and special thanks all who came to demonstrate their craft.
